I stepped into the cool dark interior of Bain Park Cabin, and introduced myself to Michelle’s aunts. “Oh, you’re the photographer!” they said. “Have you seen these?” They lead me around the main room of the cabin, proudly pointing out beautiful DIY details like paper fans, a birdcage with a hand-painted sign for cards, the homemade desserts, and newspaper fans with handmade hearts in the center.
A car pulled up outside, and Michelle hurried into the cabin, hoping no one saw her before the ceremony. Michelle is one of the nicest people on the planet. She’s expressive, empathetic, and quite obviously head over heels in love with Darko.
Family and friends began arriving, hugging Darko and finding their seats. Darko waited, watching the clock. Watching the bag piper precede Michelle and her father down the aisle.
In an homage to The Bachelor, Darko offered her a red rose. She accepted, of course. They made their vows and exchanged rings. A kiss. They walked back down the aisle, husband and wife. It was beautiful.
We went outside under the glowering sky for a few photos. The soft gloom under a redbud tree caught my attention. We took some photos, then went to the hip Vosh Club in Lakewood for an intimate reception. It was a perfect day…
Congratulations Michelle and Darko!
