When I arrived at St. Paul Lutheran Church for Andrew and Jenna’s wedding, the space was silent and waiting. Light filtered through the stained glass window behind the altar, and purple bows marked the pews where their parents would sit during the ceremony. The silence broke when Jenna arrived in a white silk dressing gown, hugging family members and toting a large dress bag. Instantly, people began bustling about, putting on boutonnieres and shushing children.
I found Andrew in a room behind the altar, far away from where Jenna was getting ready with her bridesmaids. He was buzzing with happy nervous energy; joking with his friends, checking on everyone to make sure they were ok.
They married each other in an intimate ceremony, then walked up the aisle to a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony. Jenna’s parents welcomed Andrew and his family, then the newlyweds served everyone tea–starting with Jenna’s grandmother, of course.
Afterward, we went to Huntington Beach for photos. We managed to catch a bit of sunset light, which made me happy. Here are some of my favorite images from their beautiful, fun-filled wedding day….
