Alyssa and Alex’s Mapleside Farms wedding at the Barn was nothing short of spectacular. After photographing her sister’s wedding in 2019, I knew this would be one to remember, and I was not disappointed.
The ceremony took place at St. James Catholic Church in Lakewood, a stunningly beautiful church with soaring ceilings and intricate stained glass windows–and plenty of marble columns for me to hide behind during the ceremony. As the bride and groom exchanged vows, the light streaming in through the windows cast a warm, golden glow over the entire space, making for some truly breathtaking photos.
For portraits, we went to the Cleveland Sign at 9th St. Pier, then took some more with the lake in the background. A quick stop at First Energy Stadium was a must for these Browns fans. Alex and his groomsmen got into their 4-point stance for a photo with the stadium in the background.
From there, we headed to Mapleside Farms. Mapleside has three wedding venues to choose from: The Barn, the Cellar and the Lodge. We were in the Barn, which boasts an incredible view of their apple orchard, and really defines the idea of rustic charm and elegance with it’s post and beam construction.
The bride’s dress was another stunner from Brides by the Falls, an elegant, timeless boutique in downtown Chagrin Falls. The bridesmaids wore navy blue floor length dresses, while the groom and his groomsmen looked sharp in gray suits. And the floral details were simply breathtaking – white blooms mixed with pops of orange and coral, adding just the right amount of color and whimsy to the rustic barn setting.
It was a joy to capture all of these beautiful details and special moments. From the emotional speech by the sister of the bride, to the mother-daughter dance, to the wild dance floor antics, every moment was infused with love and joy.
But what struck me the most about this wedding was the sense of community and connection that was evident throughout the entire day. Whether it was the heartfelt hugs between family members or the raucous laughter shared by friends, there was a palpable sense of love and togetherness that made the day truly unforgettable.
In the end, as I looked through the hundreds of photos I had taken, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to have been a part of such a special day. It’s moments like these that remind me why I became a photographer in the first place – to capture the beauty and joy of life’s most precious moments, and to help people remember them for years to come. And this wedding, with its rustic charm, beautiful floral details, and infectious energy, was certainly one of those moments.
