They wanted an outdoor wedding ceremony, and the sculpted grounds of Gervasi Vineyard were perfect. But their wedding day came with clouds, so they waited to see what the weather would do. Everyone and everything held their breath as parents and staff looked at the glowering sky and their phones, trying to determine how many drops–if any–of rain would fall between 5:30 and 6:00. Chairs waited in neat rows. Flowers held their color in abeyance.
Just half an hour. Give us half an hour.
Around 5:00, they had to call it (inside!), and the staff at Gervasi smoothly transitioned to an indoor ceremony. And while it would have been easy to be sad about not having the outdoor winery wedding they had planned for, it didn’t phase Courtney and Michael. They were getting married, and nothing could touch that.
Under the warm glow of the chandeliers, surrounded by their families, Courtney and Michael married each other. Afterward, the rain held off enough for us to get some outdoor photos. Here are some of my favorite moments from their beautiful, rainy wedding day
