When photographing business professionals in Cleveland, Ohio, it's important the photographer not only understands lighting and posing, but the client's objectives as well. Understanding what the client is trying to convey with their image, and making that come to life with a camera and lens is crucial. For this business portrait, created at Studio 226 in Cleveland, Ohio, I used a combination of natural light with a reflector trained on the subject's face. He wanted to show that he is a friendly, approachable leader who will work with his staff and colleagues. Posing the subject business attire, but without a coat in a non-traditional pose in front of a grungy background was a studied choice. Of course, it is the subject's smile that makes this image the favorite for his personal branding portfolio.
