Young Usher at Glenmoor Country Club Wedding at Chapel Ballroom
This little guy is one of my favorite finds from this wedding at Glenmoor Country Club. He was serving as an usher, handing out programs, and taking the job very seriously, standing at his post by the Chapel Ballroom doors with a stack of programs in hand and this focused, watchful expression on his face.
I love this photo because of what it gives you beyond just him. Through the open doors behind him, you can see the ceremony space itself, warm and golden with candlelight and greenery, guests already seated and waiting, but it's all soft and out of focus. It creates a sense of anticipation, like the moment is building just out of reach. It's also a view the bride and groom never actually got to see themselves; they were somewhere else getting ready for their own entrance, while this small, quiet scene was unfolding at the door. I love being able to hand couples glimpses like this one, pieces of their own wedding day that happened without them.
Technically, I focused tightly on him and let the ceremony space fall into a soft blur behind him, which does most of the storytelling here. Sharp where he stands, soft where the anticipation is building, with just enough light spilling out from the chapel to separate him from that dark stone archway around him.
